The Smallmouth Bass Bite is On!!!!!!!

The last 10 days have seen a serious upswing in action on Southern Maine rivers for smallmouth bass. Double digit days on the water are the norm right now and I even had a pair of clients break the century mark last Friday. For the fly anglers out there, the fish are taking streamers all day. And for the conventional gear folks, spinners are the name of the game.

If you like surface action, now is the time to get after it. Low light is the key and the fish hit both popper flies and surface lures with reckless abandon.

For those rivers that have pike, we are fast approaching the dog days of summer where they will head for deeper and cooler water but the occasional giant can be had if you know where the deep holes are. Large spinners have been picking up 3 to 4 fish each time I have been out.

So shut off Netflix and give me a shout if you want to book a day.

We are still following the Covid-19 guidelines for guided trips and I will go over those with you if you book a day.

Stay safe and get after 'em!
